chaitra navami is said to begin in chaitra shukla prathama and to end on chaitra shukla navami which is also known as ram navami in some of the places commonly. in indian mythology chaitra navaratri is said to be the starting of new hindu samvat (hindu new year). it is popularly famous for the celebration of birth of lord rama. he is said to be the seventh avtar of lord vishnu and is a part of spring navratri which tends to fall on the 9th day of the bright half (shukla paksha) according to hindu calender of chaitra on the ninth day of the navratra spring season. 

Beginning Of New Era "Chaitra Navmi"

it is majorly celebrated in the areas like ayodhya, sitamarhi (bihar), janakpur dham (nepal), bhadrachalan (telangana), kodandarana temple, rameshwaram (tamilnadu). special rath yatras, the chariot processions which is commonly known as shobha yatra is taken out on this special day. people from all over the world visit ayodhya to take holy dip in the sacred river sarayu and then visit the lord ram temple. this is the day when in the eastern indian states the regional vaishnava community observe ram navami as it is the mark for starting of annual prepration of jagannath ratha yatra in the summers. the chaitra navratri begins with the starting of worshping of lord shakti with the end on the ninth day known as ram navami as on the ninth day of navratra lord ram took birth.
