It Is Said That The Founder Of City Lucknow By Shri Lakshman, The Prince Chandraketu, While Passing The Dense Forest With His Ashwamegh Horse Through The Banks Of Gomti River Stayed Here. It Was Very Dense And Dark Forest And Thus He Prayed To The Goddess For His Safety And Suddenly The Goddess Appeared And Assured His Safety. The Grand Temple Was Established In 12th Century But Was Destroyed By Foreign Invaders. After 250 Years Villagers Passing By The Place Found The Idol Of Goddess And Thus Placed The Idol Where It Is Placed Right Now. It Is Said That At The Time Of Mahabharata, Lord Krishna Advised The Son Of Bheem, Barbareek To Pray Here For Attaining Power To Goddess Chandi At This Place. The Special Fare In Navratri And Amavasya Are Held. The Large Statue Of Lord Shiva In The Center Of The Kunda Is The Main Attraction Of The Temple.
