The Magnificent Attraction In The Qutub Minar Complex Is The Iron Pillar. The 7 Meter (23 Ft.) Column, Weighing 6000 Kg Is Notably Known For Its Rust Resistant Composition Of The Metals. The Iron Pillar Is Said To Be Erected In 402 CE. It Is Also Known As "Testimony To The High Level Of Skill Achieved By The Ancient Indian Iron Smiths In The Extraction And Processing Of Iron" As It Is Coated With Even Crystalline Iron Hydrogen Phosphate Hydrate So As To Prevent It From The Rust And Climate Of Delhi.

It Is 3 Ft 8 Inches Below The Ground. Its Base Rests On The Grid Of Iron Bars. A Very Famous Practice Was That As It Is Said That If One Stands In Front On The Pillar And Make One's Hands Meet Behind It, Would Bring Good Luck. This Practice Showed The Clear And Visible Discoloration On The Pillar Lower Section. There Are Many Inscriptions Written On The Pillar And Amongest Then One Is Identified As That Of The "Chandra" Respectably Chandragupta 2nd Of Gupta Dynasty. The Upper Portion Of The Pillar Is Said To Posses A Hole Which Is Mark Of The Holy Dhwaja Of The Lord Vishnu, Symbolizing The Garuda (The Holy Bird Lord Vishnu Rides). It Is Said That This Pillar Was Brought By Illtutmish From The Lord Vishnu's Temple.
