Located 20 Km From Dharamasala Of The Town Of Kangra Is Kangra Fort Built By The Royal Rajput Family Of Katoch Dynasty Has Its Evidences In Mahabharata Epic.
Kangra Fort
One Of The Largest Fort In Himalayas. It Is One Of The Oldest Dated Fort Of India. The Fort Was Resisted By Akbar's Siege In 1615. The Raja Hari Chand Katoch Of Kangra Was Defeated By Jahangir And Was Then Ruled By Him. Later Raja Sansar Chand Second Succeeded In Recovering The Ancient Fort. As Sansar Chand Second Kept His Neighboring King Jailed Which Led To The Conspiracies. Later After His Death, Fort Was Taken By British After Sikh War Of 1846. According To Sikh Inscription On The Entrance Marks The Proof That The Entrance Door Was Built By The Sikhs.

Through The Ahani And Amiri Darwaza Leads To The Top Of The Fort Made By Nawab Saif Ali Khan, The First Mughal Governor Of Kangra. The Jahangiri Darwaza, Darshini Darwaza, Lakshmi Narayana, Sitala And Ambika Devi Near The River Goddess Ganga And Yamuna Are The Major Attraction Of The Fort. There Is A Small Museum Depicting The History Of The Royal Fort. A Very Pleasing Place To Be Visited.
