The Very Famous Kala Pani (Cellular Jail) Was Built Up By The Britishers In Andaman And Nicobar Island In The Year 1906. The Jail Was Known As The Kala Pani Because It Was All Surrounded By The Water. The Jail Is Called Cellular Jail Because Of Its Structure As There Were 7 Columns Of Three Storied Jails With The Total Number Of 696 Cells.

All The Prisoners Were Kept Separately So That They May Not Be Able To Converse With Each Other And Feel Distressed In Loneliness. Few Notable Dissidents Like Batukeshwar Dutt, Yogendra Shukla And Vinayak Damodar Savarkar Were The Part Of This Jail.

Now There Is A Museum Over Here Which Possess All The Paintings And Equipment Kept Here Which Were Used To Torture The Prisoners. The Most Torturous Jail Of Those Times Which Had A Very Famous Saying About It At That Time Was That Once A Person Sent To This Place Will Never Come Back. A Very Horrifying Place Of Those Times Still Depicts Indian Struggle For Freedom.
